This is a "darn" good basic overview about how computers work, and some simple things you can do to help your computer. .... A couple others you might think about: be very careful about opening any files. If you get a message to up-date a program, go to the program's website to do it yourself. Use a virus protection, even the Windows one. If you use large files or store lots of photographs, think about buying an extra storage device or cloud storage. Disable indexing features in Windows and any other program that uses them. Typically this trades off enhanced search performance on your hard drive for faster overall performance. Beware of loading up lots of plug-ins to anything: the issue is not will they work, but will they work with each other.
