Smart Install no good when USB devices are blocked
Date:November 29, 2012
smart install is well and good for home usage, but in a Corporate environment where USB storage devices are blocked, it creates more work. It took us over an hour of trying to bypass our firewall software for me to go, out of desperation, to figure out how to disable Smart Install from the printer's web interface/control panel. Beware of Smart Install! Idiot-proofiness creates even more work for the average techie! It's overkill!

Smart Install is not so smart.
Date:October 12, 2012
Smart Install obfuscates standard pnp detection. Your printer will show up as a storage device instead. Running the setup from there would be all well and good if it didn't fail everytime.
Save yourself the time - disable it using the SIUtility.exe and install it like every other normal printer in the world.

Smart install does not work
Date:June 13, 2012
I have wasted a few hours trying to install my new HP400 mfp475dn to my laptop.
Smart install appears on the screen and then disappears after 1 minute.
I downloaded the driver, but it keeps timing out and so here I am with a HKD7500 printer and cant print.
I think Smart install stinks.

If I'm reading this right - it looks like it could really make life a lot easier when managing printer drivers...
