Wait for firmware updates

"I would recommend looking elsewhere if you are looking for a reliable printer. HP has dropped the ball on the issues that affect network access stability. The printer is denying network print jobs which can only be resolved via a printer reboot.
The problem affects wired, wireless, and wireless direct. I'm still working with HP to resolve the problem, but until there is a fix... I would stay clear.
When the printer is operational, it does appear to work properly. Although, I have had jams in the ADF. I've also seen inbound fax calls get hung during the ring cycle which eventually causes the printer to reboot on it's own."

Gets the Job Done

"I have been a HP printer user for decades. The machine is solid and designed for what I believe is the upper end of the home office to the entry level small office user. The ability to print from your smartphone/tablet devices is great. The wires capabilities is excellent works like a charm with computers on my network ranging from windows XP – windows 8 and a host of iphones/ipads/ipods/etc. I haven’t really played around with the apps yet but I’m not sure how much I will need to use them. In summary the main requirement for me with the machine is “ZERO DOWN TIME” if that is being delivered I have no problems with what bells and whistles might be missing (from looks of it looks good). That’s why I have been a HP user (almost exclusively) for so long due to the reliability. Therefore, if you fall into that range of user pick it up."

Super!!!

"Previous opinion said: "The only option from the LCD panel for scanning, is to send to a USB key. I found this extremely disappointing because it seems to me it would have fare more useful as a network device, to be able to scan to a network share! <snap> I'd prefer to not do that, but in order to scan to a computer, you must be at the computer."
This is (no longer) true!!! The current firmware is perfectly able to scan to a networkshare AND scan to e-mail!!! Last option was a surprise to me, the printer is able to deliver the scan to a mailserver WITHOUT the need of a computer!
I am very pleased with the printer, exept for (only) one thing: the scans are mutch to light, black text becomes gray and I can not find a setting to correct this (yet).
I'd buy a new m475dw within the hour me current one dies..."

Somewhat Satisfied

"This unit is heavy and will require 2 people to move. The toner trays are small, but they are conveniently located in a pull out tray. The LCD screen is large enough, but is generally of little use once the unit is configured. The only option from the LCD panel for scanning, is to send to a USB key. I found this extremely disappointing because it seems to me it would have fare more useful as a network device, to be able to scan to a network share! I do like the wireless feature as I can now roll this printer around and plug it in anywhere there is an electrical outlet. I'd prefer to not do that, but in order to scan to a computer, you must be at the computer. That means, load the documents into the scanner, and then pull them through using ReadIris that comes with the device. The printer is good, the copy feature is good, faxing is simple enough, but the scanner ability is completely inefficient."
