nuke this basket catcher
Date:March 5, 2013
"My advice to anyone looking for a new plotter is spend more and get something better.
No offense to hp, the base of the unit is not bad for the cost, but this purchase is being quickly ruined by the absolute after thought of a basket catcher solution. I hate to say it but i like my older 1050c better then this t2300, at the very least it doesnt just drop drawings all over the floor, even worse is im not sure if the clips are broken but the entire basket collaspes after printing only 3 drawings!
Have you Mr. boss look at my review, spend the extra money Mr. Ceo because the cad guy sitting next to you will be spending as much time sorting out drawings from the floor then it will take to print them! I wish i bought a oce colorwave, yes they cost upwards of 15-20 grand but yet they dont just drop the drawings all over the ground like this machine does. As always you get what you pay for and sadly i got less then what i came from with a 1050c imo, the only upside is the scanner.
Pro's
-Cost
-Printing performance is ok
-scanner
Hates
-basket tray
-basket tray
-basket tray
-consumption rates with ink

Too much hi-tech, not enough practicaltiy
Date:October 22, 2012
"My office has had this machine for about 6 months. I am in the process of calling HP service for a long list of quirky issues.
1. Paper roll backs itself out because of mis-alignmets- happens a lot.
2. Paper Jams lock the machine up even when you free the jam. You have to unplug and plug the back in to reset.
3. Loading new rolls: Very finicky with loading rolls. Can't find edge, lift lever for skew, put lever down, etc, etc. Sometimes we have to reset the machine.
4. Scanner: has locked up a bunch of times and had to reset the machine. Resetting the machine take like 10 mins.
5. The 10 year old + plotter we had previously, is a little smaller, is just as fast as this machine. The speed is not impressive. We have "plain paper" selected, so its not photo printing or anything.
6. AndI will 2nd and 3rd the notion of the paper catcher.....it's awful for any large print jobs....dwgs roll up and pile on top of each other. There is an aftermarket company that makes a better catcher for this machine...my rep sent me the info PhD Imaging. It looks to be a basic but better option.
This machine is just too quirky too often. One expects errors and jams and other such things happen once in a while and you deal with them...but my office is really starting to get annoyed with this machine....again, too many bells and whistles and hi-tech stuff that seems to cause more of the problems..
SIMPLIFY the operation of this machine."

Best plotter
Date:July 11, 2012
"I work in CAD and GIS for 20 years. This is the best plotter I ever had. OK, paper catcher is not good at all, but I don't choose my plotter for that.
Interface is easy to use. We have dozens of people who use it with success. And their are not all CAD or GIS specialists.
Scanning and plotting performance are really good. With the 2 roll feeds you can load two different papers.
For us (City Government) it was the perfect choice."

Disappointed

OK at best
Date:May 8, 2012
"We bought this as recommended by the reseller knowing the kind of volume we would use it for but have had nothing but problems. You can only load 300 foot rolls and you have to do it from the back. We have a small space for it and rolling it around is a pain. The ink cost is also concerning as it uses all colors even when printing only b/w. Don't get me started on the basket catcher. All the time saved while it prints is wasted in the sorting. I wish HP listened to the CAD industry and put out product dedicated to us."

Good printer
Date:April 18, 2012
"I have been using the printer for 6 months in the CAD profession and have been fairly happy with it.
Pros:
Prints fairly quick.
Color is really good. No noticeable line 'bleeding' with the right paper.
Can sheet feed a different type of paper without unloading rolls.
A good all in one machine for the price.
Cons:
The biggest problem with this machine is that it has rear paper feed. If you place it against a wall, you will be rolling it away from the wall a lot to replace paper, especially the bottom (2nd) roll.

Faster than my old one

"This is an "OK" plotter. It prints, scans, and copies, but the paper catcher is not good at all. It curls the paper and you have to resort them. Not a good design!"
